Mike O’Brian has been on the radio waking up Las Vegas for over 37 years! Although he was born and raised just outside Chicago, everyone knows that the “Entertainment Capital of the World” is his home!
Arriving in Las Vegas in 1986 to do mornings at KLUC, Mike has since worked at KXPT, KSTJ and now 96.3 KKLZ! Mike has been with The Beasley Media Group for over 20 years and is the Program Director for 96.3 KKLZ and morning host of “The Mike & Carla Morning Show.”
Over the years, he has been named “Best Disc Jockey” in the Review Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas” 1988-93. Also was named “Best On-Air Radio Personality” by the Electronic Media Awards 1988-93, 2001, 2010 & 2011. Along with two State Proclamations, Mike was also inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Associations’ Hall of Fame in 1997
Married to Jo Anne for the past 10 years, Mike and Jo have known each other for close to 30 years. Mike also has two beautiful daughters, Nicole and Kelly, 3 beautiful grandkids and a wonderful extended family.

What led me to Las Vegas: It was a job in radio…living in Phoenix at the time, I actually got a radio job in Las Vegas back in 1980, then left for two and a half years. In 1986, I came back to Las Vegas to do mornings and have been here ever since.
On the New KKLZ since: The beginning!
What would I be doing if I wasn’t at the New KKLZ: I don’t really know, I’ve been doing radio for almost 35 years, so this is all I really know.
My funniest radio story: I got a few, so you’re going to have to read the book!
Something people might not know about me: I sang and danced my way through the Midwest, Europe and the West Indies my junior and senior year of high school in a local musical group called “Showteens”.
Something people might not know about me: I love musicals!
My Favorite Movie of the Moment: I’m a Godfather and Godfather II freak, but for a good laugh, check out Galaxy Quest starring Tim Allen! Got ’em all on DVD.
Favorite Book: “Knight” by coach Bobby Knight with Bob Hammel.
Favorite Performer: Elvis…any movie, any concert footage put down the remote and step away from the big screen!
Favorite Pro Sport Team: Any team from Chicago…Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, and White Sox…NOT CUBS and of course The Vegas Black Knights!
Favorite Las Vegas “thing” to do: Riding the bicycle through the Red Rock Loop
Favorite Las Vegas Restaurant: Are you kidding me? Too many to even mention!
Favorite Junk Food/Fast Food: Pizza and Hot Dogs…day or night!
Favorite thing to do: Being around family and friends and doing a bit of traveling.’
